Community Outreach Ministry

In his address delivered in the Acceptance of the Nobel Peace Prize December 10, 1964 Dr. King states: " I have the audacity to believe that people everywhere can have three meals a day for their bodies, education and culture for their minds and dignity, equality and freedom for their spirits."

 

At the onset of our Outreach Ministry in April 1987, we were serving primarily the homeless, but as the economic winds begin to create havoc on the lives of many people, we encountered an even greater volume of persons seeking assistance. Some employed with low incomes, some unemployed because of the down sizing of their jobs, some with health challenges, seniors and many others who were unable to make ends meet.

 

For the year 2014, 171,243 meals were provided through the food pantry. (82,116 to children, 72,252 to adults, and 16,875 to seniors)

In addition 14,813 meals were served in the soup kitchen. (4,509 to children, 8,211 to adults and 2,093 to seniors)

 

But the need for financial assistance, volunteers and food & clothing donations continue...
